What will you encounter at the Bega Pioneers’ Museum?

A “time capsule” managed by the Bega Valley Historical Society, focused on the collection, preservation and celebration of the history of Bega and surrounding districts, through exhibition & other appropriate means.

The Pioneers’ Museum features collections themed around the history of pre-settlement, settlement & development of the Bega District with particular emphasis on:
• Domestic life
• Education
• Farming
• Local families
• Local identities
• Military service
• Recreation & social life
• Religious life &
• Working life

The Museum’s collections and exhibitions feature material from pre-settlement of the district until the present and consists of documents, imagery, oral and aural histories, objects and records of community organisations.

The Society collects only those items which contribute to an understanding or appreciation of the customs, activities, historic episodes or personalities associated with Bega & District, as defined by the above themes.
