Star Picture Theatre projector

Built in 1910 the Star Picture Theatre in Carp Street was the first building in Bega to be constructed of concrete blocks. It survived as a theatre until 1922 when it burnt down.

It has since had a number of lives: a mini golf venue, a drapers, Coles, a couple of butchers, a fruit shop, Rockman’s, and Easdown’s Camera House. It has recently undergone refurbishment to become an antique dealer.

BVHS acknowledges the Djiringanj people of the Yuin nation as the first peoples of the Bega Valley, with continuing connections to land, place, waters and community. We pay respect to their Elders, past, present and future.
